File Parsing error appearing in EM Logs.

 Introduction: 

 This article talks about correcting an error message that occurs in collector logs.

  

 Question: 

 After upgrading CA APM from version 9.7 to 10.2.0.27, some collectors receive this error in log: 

6/27/16 12:02:45.704 AM BRT [ERROR] [Carver data management] [Manager] Can't parse name of ../data/archive/temp.1234567800000.data as a timestamp; skipping. 

6/27/16 12:03:02.693 AM BRT [INFO] [Carver data management] [Manager] Existing query file data/archive/1234567800000.data seems to be OK - not sure what to do with append inputs 

6/27/16 12:06:02.358 AM BRT [ERROR] [Carver data management] [Manager] Error executing task com.wily.introscope.server.enterprise.entity.fsdb.ReperiodizeTask: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException 

 

 Environment:  

 APM EM version 10.x

 

 Answer: 

 These error messages indicate that the EM was not shut down gracefully and some of the SmartStor files are corrupt. To solve the problem: 

 1. Stop the EM. 

 2. Backup and delete the data files mentioned in the log file. For example, if the log says: 

6/27/16 12:02:45.654 AM BRT [ERROR] [Carver data management] [Manager] Can't parse name of ../data/archive/temp.1234567800000.data as a timestamp; skipping. 

 Then delete the temp.1234567800000.data file 

3. Start the EM.
