Even with a valid license, EM startup fails with "No valid license files were found."

Issue:

A previously working EM now fails with the error, "No valid license files were found" in the log. The license is found to be still valid.

When changing the log details level to "VERBOSE" or "DEBUG", entries similar to the following are seen:

Resolution:

The debug message "Host id error", indicates that the EM is unable to match the host name to the expected IP Address. The simplest way to address this is by adding the server name and IP address to the /etc/hosts file (Linux/UNIX) or C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts (Windows). This will guarantee that the expected IP Address is matched to the host name.
