Introduction:

DTS is used to connect and transfer data between ITCM Managers (rarely used for agents).

The connection is based on the success of the command "dtsping".

That command may fail sometimes

Question:

Even if all ports necessary for ITCM are opened and both end machines are up and running and can be pinged without problems, why is the "dtsping" command failing?

Environment:
ITCM 14.0 SP2 but may happen on other flavors of ITCM also
Answer:

When the target machine has DTS Legacy Cam support enabled, than this machine is always responding to a "dtsping" command.

The parm can be found in the Default policy under

-> DSM -> DTS -> DTS Agent -> Legacy Messaging Support

Please enable this option.
