In a Spectrum EEM integration scenario , you need to backup the CA Directory on EEM at regular intervals. This is done using the dxdumpdb command. You might see the following error while running this command:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Directory\dxserver\bin>dxdumpdb -f d:\eembackup -z
20131014.220044.062 WARNING: Ignoring IPv6 loopback address for localhost
20131014.220044.078 WARNING: Ignoring IPv6 loopback address for localhost
Error: Syntax Error: Line 1 in C:\Program Files
near 'dsp-idle-time'
Expected a '}'

This solution talks about how to resolve this error and proceed with the backup.

In this scenario the EEM version used is 8.4 SP 4 on Win2k8R2 . Make sure the below steps are followed to perform a successful backup.

  1. On the EEM server , go to C:\Program Files(x86)\CA\Directory\dxserver\config\knowledge directory and open the iTechPoz-NCDWCAMISA0001.dxc file

  2. Make sure there are no duplicates entries listed in this file

  3. Once done check the version of the EEM. Use the above command only if your EEM version is 8.4.

  4. Incase the EEM version is 8.4 SP4 , run the dxdumpdb command like this

    C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\Directory\dxserver\bin>dxdumpdb -f d:\eembackup iTechPoz-ncdwcamisa0001

This should backup your CA directory in EEM without any issues.

Note: Make sure you run the backup command as stated in respective EEM docset.
