Issue:

Change the machine name of SQL Server for Test Data Manager(TDM).  Try to start the TDoD service from the TDoD Config Editor. Then the error message occurs like:


"Unable to start TDoD Service in specified interval. Please check service logs for any error"





According to "tdod.log" file, there is a license error message:


"licence_error_testing_licence_contact_support. Exception Message: Error 2999 while testing server licence! Please contact support."

Environment:
Test Data Manager (TDM) release version 3.5.0.65.Test Data on Demand (TDoD) release version 3.5.0.15.TDoD is installed with the TDM product package.Database: SQL Server.
Cause:

This issue can point to multiple root causes. However, one of the common causes is that the Server name for the repository SQL Server instance is not properly specified in the 32-bit ODBC DSN where it has been configured.

Resolution:

In this case, you need to change the definitions of ODBC data source.  You have to open the 32-bit ODBC administrator and make the change for the Server Field like below:
