Issue:

When first using Crystal Reports against the MDB running on an Oracle Database, why might be received the following error message ?

"Logon failed. Details: 01S00:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for Oracle]Invalid connection string attribute"

Cause:

The error described previously is caused by selecting the "Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle" instead of the Oracle ODBC driver which is installed as part of an Oracle client.

Resolution:

The following steps detail how the problem arises followed by instructions on how to resolve the problem:

    Whenever an attempt is made to run any report, the following Crystal Report Viewer error is seen:

    After clicking "OK" in the above dialog box, the following screen is displayed:

    To resolve the problem it is necessary to ensure that the Oracle ODBC driver is installed; it can be obtained from the Oracle install CD.

    Once installed, recreate the ODBC data source and choose "Oracle ODBC driver":

    Please install the ODBC driver from the Oracle10g Universal Installer if not present.
