While upgrading or re-installing IT Client Manager, the following error occurs and the installation fails:

CA Client Automation (ITCM) -- any version.

Solution 1:
Delete the following entries in the registry:

On a 32-bit Windows Operating System:

On a 64-bit Windows Operating System:

Delete the following folder:
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{DA485AC8-BACB-492D-9B1E-14AA5B61597E}

Try the upgrade again.  If the error still persists, try Solution 2.

Solution 2:

Run the Manager installation directly from the manager directory invoking manager.msi with proper parameters.

Open a command line and execute the following:
msiexec.exe /i"E:\itcmr12\WindowsProductFiles_x86\Manager\Manager.msi" /l*v "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\DSMUpgradeManager.log" REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS REINSTALLMODE=vomus REINSTALL=ALL MASTERSETUP=1 CAF_INSTALL_SERVICE=0 CAF_START_SERVICE=0 SC_DSMPROP=1 DSM_LANGUAGE="enu"

Ensure that the paths have the correct drive for your environment (e.g."E:\").

Note: If the upgrade completes successfully, run the "DSMVER" command, to check whether the ITCM has been properly upgraded or re-installed.
