Description:

Many changes were made to the CA eHealth time zone files. The files affected are called timezone.< LINUX,NT,ORA,SOL,W2K>.txt that are stored in the NH_HOME/sys directory of CA eHealth. These files are used by the frameworks and by OCE. The changes were prompted by many problems in the existing files. In general, the changes fixed:

- A missing NH internal name from some of the files.

- Time zones with the wrong operating system mapping that caused incorrect mapping to DST and non-DST time zones.

- Missing time zone definitions for either a DST or a non-DST instance.

- Other changes brought on by countries changing their DST rules over time. For example, most of Russia changed their DST rules, and cities such as Moscow no longer use DST.

- These changes can highlight other time-related problems on your systems. For example, setting the wrong time zone or setting the wrong DST setting, due to either an error or due to implementing your own fixes to the CA eHealth time zone files. In either case, you may notice different behavior once these new time zone files are installed with this release. Even with the updated time zone files, you can still have issues that require you to modify your time zone settings.

However, there can be other time zone issues that are not fixed by the updated time zone files. The issues can include problems with the actual operating system time zone definitions. Make sure you are vigilant about implementing the current time zone information for your particular operating system. Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, and Red Hat all provide updates occasionally. For example, many of the Russian time zone changes were made toward the end of 2011. Without further updates, the operating system would likely still use DST and be incorrect by 1 or 2 hours.
