Duplicate Scheduled reports are being delivered in a multi-node UMP environment

Issue:

When scheduling reports in ReportScheduler in a multi-node UMP environment, duplicate reports may be delivered via e-mail, resulting in a user receiving multiple copies of the same report when only one copy is expected.

Environment:
UMP 8.51 with multiple UMP nodes (2 or more) running in a clustered environment
Cause:

The reportscheduler portlet is not multi-UMP-aware by default.  Each reportscheduler portlet instance runs the reports listed in the corresponding database tables without regard for any other instance of the same portlet.

Resolution:

Users who experience this issue and wish to avoid this problem should install ump_reportscheduler_8.5.2_hf2 or higher, which is available from the UIM Hotfix Index Site.

To fix this issue, we modified the Report Scheduler to refresh the scheduled reports list periodically, based on a configurable value in wasp.cfg.  The list will be updated based on the number of seconds specified by the job_refresh_secs property.  Administrators should add the job_refresh_secs  property to all UMP servers.  You can prevent duplicate reports by stopping the execution of email actions on one or more UMP servers. On each UMP server that you want to stop executing email actions, add the execute_email_actions property with a value of false.  Following are the configuration properties that an administrator should add to the /webapps/reportscheduler section of wasp.cfg:

•job_refresh_secs – Enter a numeric refresh rate, in seconds.

•execute_email_actions – Enter a value of “false” on UMP servers that should not execute or email reports.
