Introduction:

Drop or Recreate the Vertica Database in Performance Management.

 

Background:

This will tell you how to drop and recreate the Vertica database in a Performance Management system. WARNING: By performing this you will lose all data. This is performed as a last resort solution for when you are unable to get the Vertica database back up again.

 

Environment: 

CA Performance Management - MULTI-PLATFORM Release:2.x

 

Instructions: 

1. Remove the DA from the data source list in CA Performance Center. - you do NOT need to remove the other data sources.

2. Stop the DA & DC

DA: /etc/init.d/dadaemon stop

DC: /etc/init.d/dcmd stop

3. Uninstall the DA (Data Aggregator) & DCs (Data Collectors) per the documentation then reboot each box. It is important that there is no trace of the install left after the reboot so make sure the directory structure is gone.

4. Use the vertica admintool to drop the DA's database. As the dradmin user launch admin Tools

Select #6 Configuration Menu

Select #7 Drop Database

5. Use the vertica admintool to create the DA's database (just as you would if you were installing the DR for the first time). As the dradmin user launch admin Tools

Select #6 Configuration Menu

Select #1 Create Database

6. Reinstall the DA per the documentation

7. Add the DA as a data source to PC along with the rest of the data sources

8. Install and configure the DC per the documentation
