Introduction:

Some Cisco Nexus 9000 devices can export SFlow data the includes data that has been encapsulated by VxLan.

Question:

Does NFA Support displaying end point hosts and protocol data in SFlow data that has been encapsulated by VxLAN?

Environment:
NFA All Versions
Answer:
  • NFA will not be able to display endpoint hosts, instead it will display the intermediate switches on the network, as the encapsulation hides the end point VM host in the Sflow data.

  • The protocol traffic will show up as UDP port 4789, which is the port for the VxLAN protocol itself, instead of the actual protocol which is being encapsulated by VxLAN
