This is a summary of the steps:

  1. Prepare your mainframe to receive the pax.Z file.
Create a USS directory and make sure that there is enough space in the file system to download and expand the pax.Z file.
  2. Download the CA product pax.Z file.
You can either download the pax.Z file directly to the mainframe directory created in step 1, or to your PC before manually uploading it to your mainframe.
  3. Unpack the pax.Z file.
Extract the files and directories from the pax.Z file using the sample JCL provided (UNPAX) that executes the PAX command to un-zip the pax.Z file.
  4. Copy the ESD installation files to z/OS data sets
Copy the installation files into z/OS data sets using the sample JCL provided (UNZIPJCL) so that you can perform the product installation.
  5. Deleted unneeded USS files in the HFS directory
  6. Follow the instructions in the Installation manual to install
A readme file will be included with the product download which includes updates to the CA Roscoe v6 Installation Guide required for the pax install.
