Unlike older versions of APM, Release 9.6 EM does not require a license file to be deployed.
With version 9.6 and later of APM, there is no need to deploy a license file to startup your Enterprise Manager.
This is a new capability. In previous versions, you would need to do the following:
- First, obtain the license link from CA. This was done by filling out a web-based form including the IP address of machine where the EM would be deployed.
- Second, deploy the emailed license file on the EM before it could be started.
Also anytime the EM (Enterprise Manager) was moved to a different server with another IP address, you were required to repeat above steps.
APM 9.6 eliminates this workflow and makes the process of deploying\moving EM's faster and efficient.
For any version of APM lower than 9.6 you will still need to generate\deploy a license file.
