Does the OS user used by a remote agent in Applications Manager need to have the same password as the user defined in the Operating system?
Environment:
OS Version: N/A
Cause:
Cause type:
By design
Root Cause: Applications Manager only uses the OS user name to validate an Agent on Unix or Linux systems.
Resolution:
Applications Manager doesn't use the OS user password to validate an Agent on Unix or Linux. It only uses the user name.

On Windows it does, because on Windows the OS user and password are used to start WatchWorx which is a Windows service named AWW-<Agent Name>. The service requires the OS user login and password to start the AWW service, and theĀ  AWW service starts the rest of the Applications Manager processes via watchstart.bat located in the %AW_HOME\bin folder.
