Displaying white space formatting in Service Desk

When displaying text within Service Desk, the existing web interface functionality will remove extraneous white space intentionally introduced when viewing the text in a read only display.  The text will present the extra white spaces if the text is being read in read/write.

Example:  In a given call request, on the description field, you may have the following displayed when viewing the ticket in a read only display.

test string 1

But when you edit the ticket, you would see this in the description field:

test     string 1

End users may intentionally introduce extra white space in their text input, such as in the above case.  However, most web browsers are designed to intentionally strip out the excess white space automatically as they do not recognise free hand formatting.

Possible workarounds:

Modify the text, replacing each white space with a corresponding HTML character sequence.  For white spaces, you can use " "

An example:

test       string 1

This will introduce 5 hard whitespaces between "test" and "string" which will display as white space in the SDM ticket read only display, ie:

test     string 1
