Diagram Trace Utility fails to start, see splash screen and closes

Issue:

One of our developers is having trouble getting the DTU to start. It flashes like it is going to start and there is briefly a splash screen but then it closes immediately. 

I have seen this before when the wrong version of Java is installed on the machine, but that is not the case here. 

Any tips for troubleshooting to get to the root of the problem.

Resolution:

To resolve, deleted the subfolders from: "C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\CA\Gen 8.5\cfg\DiagramTrace" subfolders of: configuration and workspace. 

If this does not resolve, suggest: 

Launch the DiagramTrace with the 'clean' option as follows: 'DiagramTrace -clean'.
