Devices are not showing up in Global Collections in Spectrum Report Manager

Description:

Device count from OneClick to Spectrum Report Manager (SRM) is different. SRM is showing less count than what is in the Global Collection when viewed inOneClick.

One scenario that causes this is a security string issue that is resolved in Spectrum 9.2.2 where security strings are setup as NULL in SRM, but they are blank on the device in the SpectroSERVER modeling database.

Solution:

This can be resolved by upgrading to Spectrum 9.2.2 (H08) or a later release.

Symptom: Not able to see the models/devices while generating the reports due to NULL security string in SRM database.
Resolution: Reports will be generated correctly by avoiding inserting NULL security string into SRM database.

Or by applying the following workaround that will also resolve the problem.

  1. Through a command window connect to mysql.

  2. Navigate into $SPECROOT/mysql/bin and type:

    ./mysql --defaults-file=my-spectrum.cnf -uroot -proot reporting

  3. At the mysql> prompt type:

    update model set security_string='' where security_string is null;

    Note: In the above query the '' is actually two single quotes.

This change should be instantaneous and no restart is required of any services.
