Introduction:

How to set up debug for the Windows Connectors in Password Authority 4.5.3

Background:

The debug logs are used when troubleshooting issues of target accounts failing to verify.

Environment:
Password Authority 4.5.3
Instructions:

To turn on debugging for the Windows Proxy target connector.


a) Navigate to the <CSPM_HOME>/cspmserver/config folder
b) Create a new folder in this directory called targetapplications
c) Create a new ‘windows.properties’ text file
d) In this file, you can add the following to enable full debugging mode:
debug=true
e) Save the file
f) Set the tomcat logging level to INFO in
<CSPM_HOME>/cspmserver/config/systemConfiguration.properties.
g)Restart Tomcat (you have to do this once to pick up the debug information).
h) Perform the ‘Verify’ or ‘Update’ task on the target account
i) Tail the catalina.out file (on UNIX) or the stdout file (on WINDOWS) in the <CSPM_HOME>/cspmserver_thirdparty/tomcat/logs folder
or on Windows, the stdout file in the same …/tomcat/logs folder.
j) Observe the output and watch for errors and successes
k) For more debugging information, you can also turn up the logging level on the Windows Proxy agent:
The Password Authority Client configuration file is located at:
C:\<install_home>\cloakware\cspmclient\config\cspm_client_config.xml
where <install_home> is the location and name of your installation folder, for example Program
Files\cspm_agent.


To turn on debugging for the Windows Domain Service target connector.
a) Navigate to the <CSPM_HOME>/cspmserver/config folder
b) Create a new folder in this directory called targetapplications
c) Create a new ‘windowsDomainServices.properties’ text file
d) In this file, you can add the following to enable full debugging mode:
debug=true
e) Save the file
f) When enabling debug in the windowsDomainService connector, it is not required to restart Tomcat
g) Perform the ‘Verify’ or ‘Update’ task on the target account
h) Tail the catalina.out file (on UNIX) or the stdout file (on WINDOWS) in the <CSPM_HOME>/cspmserver_thirdparty/tomcat/logs folder
i) Observe the output and watch for errors and successes
