Introduction:

CA Data Protection endpoint agents are application plug-ins executing on the end user’s workstation ('endpoint computers'). Endpoint agents monitor user activity for example mails sent to or from Microsoft Outlook where the agent can collect information, and implement capture and control actions in accordance with policy. 

 

Background:

By default the CA Data Protection Endpoint Agent for Microsoft Outlook processes incoming and outgoing mail events, however in order to improve performance it is possible to stop inbound processing where it is not required.

Environment:
CA Data Protection (DataMinder)
Instructions:

To stop inbound processing of mail events in Outlook. Edit the Windows registry on the machine where the Endpoint Agent is installed and navigate to the following hive:

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ComputerAssociates\CA DataMinder\CurrentVersion\EMail\

 

Add the Key:

 

DontProcessIncoming 

 

And set the attributes below:

 

DWORD value 1. 

 

Then restart Outlook.
