Data Generator - Will not allow ~NULL~ values in NULLABLE Fields

Issue:
When trying to create a generator using an 'IF' function that looks at
'IF TotalIn>TotalCost'
then I am trying to set a
'Refund Amount'
Data element.

However, for the 'if false' portion of the function, it will not allow me to enter ~NULL~ to close out the function. When I go to validate, or the system tries to validate (depending on what view I am in), it gives me an error that the XML Data element MUST BE AN INTEGER.

Error message begins with
'EXPECTED INTEGER'
despite the fact that the SCHEMA .XSD rules clearly have been imported to show the Element is 'NULLABLE' (which means it isn't required and should not be output if there is no value). Why would I generate a 'refund amount' tag if there is no refund?
