Customer is running the db_optimize.pl script and getting a usage error message (Legacy KB ID CNC TS21223)

Document ID : KB000051986
Last Modified Date : 14/02/2018
Show Technical Document Details

This is caused by "^M" characters in the $SPECROOT/SS/DDM/.configrc file.  You can see these from within a "bash -login" window by issuing the command "vim -b <$SPECROOT>/SS/DDM/.configrc".

In order to remove these, perform the following command from within a "bash -login" shell window:

-  cd into the $SPECROOT/SS/DDM/ directory;

-  issue the command:  "dos2unix .configrc .configrc"

Now rerun the script.

UNIX and DOS (Windows) have different character sets. "^M," which is a DOS return character, and other characters from the DOS extended character set, are added to UNIX files that have been edited using Windows' applications such as Microsoft WordPad and Microsoft Word.

This is scheduled to be addressed in 8.0.
