Problem:

After a successful installation of the Windows Proxy on a Windows 2008 R2 server the cspmagentd service keeps stopping a few seconds after startup. We tried configuring different "Logon As" users for the service, confirmed that there is no firewall between CA PAM and the Proxy and looked for errors in the Proxy log but didn't find any. It looks like the process crashes a few seconds into the startup after having connected successfully to the CA PAM https server. The CA PAM server is at version 2.5 and the proxy installer was downloaded from support.ca.com under the list of downloads available for version 2.5. 
 

Cause:

The Windows Proxy installer that can be downloaded from support.ca.com, file GEN05111127E.zip, is a version based on CA PAM 2.6 code level. It is compatible with CA PAM 2.6 and 2.7, but not with 2.5.
 

 

Resolution:

Upgrade CA PAM to 2.6 or 2.7.
