CSM install of CA Intertest for CICS r 9.1 update product release fails with download error detected.

When doing a CSM install of CA Intertest for CICS r 9.1 update product release fails with download error detected. The client is attempting to refresh CSM with the latest increment two fixes for release 9.1.

From the messages generated by the Update Catalog Release, you can see CMS failed to download fix . RO82152.BIN  into the CSM USS directory.

 

Download error detected. Reported failing 6 packages. RO82152.BIN was not inserted  into the catalog.

FTP Message: Error in downloading file /usr/lpp/msmserv/mpm/tmproot/MSM.6566017366245440525.scratchpad/task6462/RO82152.BIN:

org.apache.commons.net.io.CopyStreamException: IOException caught while copying. Download error detected.

 

RO82152 is a VERY large fix. When received into the SMPPTS it's 3,580,730 lines of fix. It takes about 350 cylinders of SMPPTS space.  Every fix after that also failed.

In the CSMLOG you may see EDC5133I No space left on device.  To check for space in CSM the user needs to do the following:

Under Setting, System Setting, Mount Point Management, if you are using SMS, please verify that the storage class has enough volume with available space.

Or if it is non SMS, verify that the VOLSER specified has enough space. 

This turned out to be a space problem as suspected. Once the space was increased the fixes were successfully downloaded.
