Question:
We are seeing the robot is creating too many "controller_ext.exe" processes which consumed the maximum of memory on the server.
Why is this happening and how can we void this as it is impacting our server normal operations.

We had Server go into hung state last week before became blue screen and rebooted itself. Findings from Microsoft dump file : ============================== The controller.exe has created about 20,000 "controller_ext.exe" processes which consumed the maximum of memory on the server, which caused the server to hang. We suspected there is an issue with nimsoft on this server, and appreciate your action to investigate, and provide prevention method to avoid this from happening again. Server Details: OS Type : Windows OS System : Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition 32-bit. (Svc Pack 2 Build 6002) Nimsoft Robot version : v7.91
Environment:
UIM 9.0 And earlier
robot version 7.91,7.93 7.90
windows platforms
Answer:
Staring with  robot 7.90 a new executable was added to the robot,controller_ext.exe.
This is part of the new automatic application discovery being done by the robot.
There was an issue correct for this in 7.92HF9 but was done for 64-bit systems not 32 bit systems
So currently for 32-bit systems you will need to stay with the 7.80 robot to make sure you do not have this issue.

This did not make it into the 7.93 release of the product but is planned to be fixed for both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems in robot 7.95
