I am trying to submit a new Cost Plan as a new Budget Plan and I get the following error message. What is not matching?
Steps to Reproduce:
- Create 'Cost Plan 1' (Plan of Record - POR) > Group by Charge Codes > Enter in planning values
- Submit 'Cost Plan 1' as a new Budget Plan 1
- Approve Budget Plan 1
- Create 'Cost Plan 2' > Group By Charge Codes > Sub-Group By Transaction Class > Enter in planning values
- Set 'Cost Plan 2' as the plan of record (POR)
- Submit 'Cost Plan 2' as a new Budget Plan 2 > error message is generated
Error: 'The structure of the existing Budget and the Cost plan of record do not match'
The reason that the error message appears is because the existing, Approved Budget Plan has the following 'structure'. The 'structure' of a Cost Plan or Budget Plan refers to the configuration of the Plan properties for the 'Group By' and 'Sub-Group By' fields.
Here is a list of existing Budget Plans. There is one Budget Plan that is 'Current' and 'Approved'
Click on the 'properties' icon for this Budget and you can see the 'structure' of the plan.
Go to the list of Cost Plans and look at the properties of the 'Plan of Record' that you want to submit as the new Budget Plan.
Compare the 'Group By' and 'Sub-Group By' fields on the Cost Plan with the fields on the Budget Plan. They are not the same, therefore you cannot use 'Cost Plan 2' for submission as a new Budget Plan. You will have to use a Cost Plan that has the same 'structure' for submission as a new Budget. Currently, Clarity does not have the feature to delete existing Budget Plans. Once the first Budget Plan is submitted, the 'structure' is locked.
To resolve this issue, create a new Cost Plan or use another existing Cost Plan that has the same structure as the Budget Plan for the 'Group By' and 'Sub-Group By' configuration.
In this example, our first plan, 'Cost Plan 1' has the same configuration as the Budget Plan
