Description:

Export to Excel functionality that exports more than 3000 rows creates a file that we are not able to open. The pop-up window "Problem came up in the following areas during load:" appears and the excel sheet is blank.

The steps to reproduce use one portlet but it applies other portlets too (for example - "Booking_Status").
The issue is caused by too many 'links' defined on the portlet.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Login to Clarity as an administrator user
  2. Main Application > Resource Management: Resource Planning > Allocation Tab > Weekly Detail portlet
  3. Display more than 3000 rows within the portlet
  4. [--Actions--] > Export to Excel (Data Only)
  5. Save the file to the file system
  6. Open the file by Excel

Expected Result: We should open any excel sheet that has been saved
Actual Result: We are not able to open the excel file that contains more than 3000 rows

Solution:

WORKAROUND:

Split a list to smaller segments (rows less than 3000) that you can successfully export.

Alternatively, the portlet can be reconfigured to remove any 'links'. The removal of 'links' on the portlet will allow successful Export to Excel action for more than 3,000 rows.

To accomplish this, perform the following steps.

Steps to implement a workaround:

  1. Login to Clarity as an administrator user

  2. Main Application > Resource Management: Resource Planning > Allocation Tab > Weekly Detail portlet

  3. [--Actions--] > Configure > List Column Section: Fields
Edit the properties for each field that has a link defined to remove it
(i.e. Email Icon, Investment, Properties Icon, etc.)

  4. Save the changes

  5. Perform the Export : [--Actions--] > Export to Excel (Data Only)

  6. After performing the export, the links can be restored on the portlet by restoring the configuration to the system configuration

[--Actions--] > Configure > General Properties > click 'Restore Defaults' page
