Browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer 8

When attempting to use Export to Excel (Data Only) the browser generates an error message 'Unable to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again.'

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Navigate to a user-defined Portlet
  2. [--Actions--] > Export to Excel (Data Only)
    Error Message Appears:

    Unable to download app from my.ondemand.ca.com.
    Unable to open this internet site.
    The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
    Please try again.
    --------------------------------
  3. Navigate to Project List view
  4. [--Actions--] > Export to Excel (Data Only)
    Error Message Appears:
    --------------------------------
    Unable to download .
    Unable to open this internet site.
    The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
    Please try again.
    --------------------------------

Expected Result: Microsoft Excel should open the file.
Actual Result: Unable to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again.

Solution:

Workaround:

  1. From Microsoft Internet Explorer > go to Tools > Popup Blocker > Popup Blocker Settings
  2. Add ca.com to Allowed Sites

  3. Go to Tools > Compatibility View Settings
  4. Add ca.com to Websites in Compatibility View settings
  5. Check box next to Display all websites in Compatibility View
