In Spectrum 10.2 when modeling Cisco Nexus devices that support VDC, the Spectrum VDC modeling would create a hierarchy with a container. The Nexus model and the contexts would then be placed into that container.  This made for a confusing topology and difficulty viewing connections as a user would need to drill into each container to see the connections to the Nexus device.

Starting from the CA Spectrum 10.2.1 release, there is a change in the hierarchy in which Cisco Nexus devices with virtual device context are modeled and displayed in CA Spectrum OneClick. The container hierarchy creation is no longer created within the Universe hierarchy, in the OneClick Explorer view. A new  Virtual Device Manager hierarchy is created in the Explorer view, where all the Cisco Nexus devices that support virtual device context are discovered and modeled.

If you had previously modeled the Cisco Nexus in 10.2.0 and have the container hierarchy and would like to have it removed to utilize the new Virtual Device Manager, please download the attached script.

Unzip the into the <SPECROOT> directory on each SpectroSERVER.  Run the script from the command line with no options.

Once complete the script will show you a summary of actions.  Be sure to run the script on all SS in a DSS environment that have Nexus devices modeled:
