Issue:

After installing cdm 5.20 or higher, certain memory QOS sample values are not being stored in the database.

Symptoms include the following:

  • Sample values in the database show NULL
  • DrNimbus shows the samplevalue as -987654321
  • The probe log contains the following lines

Jul 20 08:02:50:067 [0001] cdm: (GetMemoryInfo) - before excluding zfs cache and buffers: Total Physical: 4096 Used Physical: 1608

Jul 20 08:12:53:175 [0001] cdm: (GetMemoryInfo) - after excluding zfs cache and buffers: Total Physical: 4096 Used Physical: -269

Jul 20 08:12:53:175 [0001] cdm: (GetMemoryInfo) - Used : -269 Physical: -269 Swap:    0

Environment:
Solaris 10cdm 5.20 and higher
Cause:

This is caused by the buffer memory being subtracted from the total physical memory available.

Resolution:

The resolution is to enable a key in Raw Configure in cdm.

Open Raw Configure

Click the setup node

If the mem_buffer_used key exists, change it to yes

If the key does not exist, click New key and add it
