Cannot run UPDATE CATALOG release

Description:

You are working on your CA product under CSM.

Whenever you try to click option " UPDATE CATALOG release " it starts running for a longtime without ending - 0% status and then you need to recycle MSMTC to come out of this product which is getting locked (more than 10 hours also).

When you try to browse this CSI in the SMP/E panel, it gives the below messages:

You recycle MSMTC twice but this problem still occurs again and again.

 

Solution:

In fact, the Update Product release or update catalog release is being done for a product and the CSI dataset wasn't closed successfully it can cause the update product release to "hang" at 0% without making progress.

You have to run a VSAM Verify to close the file properly.

Here is a sample to run the VSAM VERIFY to your CSI:

This example will check and fix errors in your VSAM dataset.

It should execute with MAXCC=0 and will fix the errors in your VSAM dataset.

Then you have to recycle MSMTC and you can run the Update Catalog Release and it should run 100% successfully.
