Question:
Can the 'C++ 2008 Redistributable' software be uninstalled from a CA Service Desk Manager server?  If yes, will any CA SDM application functionality be affected?
Environment:
CA Service Desk Manager 14.x and 17.x
All Supported Windows Operating Systems
Answer:
CA SDM does NOT install or directly require the ' C++ 2008 Redistributables' module. However, it appears that SQL Server installs the ' C++ 2008 Redistributables' module.
You will need to consult with Microsoft directly to determine what effects uninstalling the ' C++ 2008 Redistributables' module has on SQL Server or any of its components (i.e. SQL client).
If the CA SDM MDB is installed on a remote DB server, all that is required on the CA SDM server is the SQL client. If this is the case, you will need to ask Microsoft what implications there are on the SQL client if the ' C++ 2008 Redistributables' module is uninstalled.
