Question:

Can the Batch utility jobs be run with Xmanager down?

Environment:
z/OS 1.11 and above.
Answer:

Xmanager has to be up when you run the PDT & PSA utility jobs. Otherwise you'll receive a 36 condition code in the utility job, along with the message "Unable to establish XMANAGER connection".

Regarding collections, the create jobs (PDTDSALC, PSADSALC, PDTCPALC & PDTRPALC) can be run while collections are active. The remaining jobs (PDTDSCPY, PSADSCPY, PDTCPCPY, PDTRPCPY, PDTDSDEL, PSADSDEL, PDTCPDEL, PDTRPDEL) should be ran when the collections are not active.
