Introduction:

Customer would like to verify the IXXAREA parameter used during DBUTLTY INIT function.

Question:

Is there any negative reason why I should not specify IXXAREA=IXX on all of my INIT IXX control statements?

Environment:

Z/os, CA Datacom/DB 14.0

Answer:

- Per CA Datacom/DB 14.0 Reference Guide:

"IXXAREA= is optional for databases that have a single index Area but, if specified, must be set as IXXAREA=IXX."

- Per CA Datacom/DB 14.0 System and Administration Guide:

Note: If the specific DBID has a single Index area (IXX), it is possible for the IXXAREA= keyword to be specified, if set to IXX or ***."
