Description:

This document describes how to start/stop a Detector Collection using MVS Modify commands within a Batch job.

Solution:

You can Stop or Start your Detector collection using MVS Modify commands by running the Batch job below. The Modify commands should be included within the SYSIN DD statement. The XMANAGER STC/Job must already be running. To simplify things, place your Start MVS Modify commands into a member of your <High.Level>.CDBAPXMP library. The Start MVS Modify commands are described in the Detector User Guide - Using Collection Service - Collection Control Using MVS Modify Commands - START(DTR) Command - Start Collection section.

The format of the command to RUN a member that contains Detector Start commands is:

  F PTXMAN,RUN(PDS Member Containing the Start Commands)

The command below will run member $STRTPDT (Which contains Start commands for a Detector collection) from my CDBAXMP library. The name of my XMANAGER job is PTXMAN1:

  //SYSIN    DD  *
  F PTXMAN1,RUN($STRTPDT)

The format of the command to STOP a Collection is:

  F XMANAGER Job Name,STOP(DTR),DB2(DB2 Subsystem ID)

The command below will Stop the Collection in the previous example, which is running on DB2 subsystem ABCD:

  //SYSIN    DD  *
  F PTXMAN1,STOP(DTR),DB2(ABCD)

Below is the complete job to start the above collection:

  //JobName JOB (123456789),'Console Commands',CLASS=B,MSGCLASS=X,
// NOTIFY=YourUserID,REGION=4M //* /*JOBPARM S=LPAR //* //STEP010 EXEC PGM=IEFBR14 //* //* This JCL will issue the Console command to display IFI in a //* PTXMAN STC. //* //SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=* //SYSTSPRT DD SYSOUT=* //* //SYSIN DD * //COMMAND 'F HAYGR01X,RUN($STRTPDT)'
