I am applying z/OS 2.3 required maintenance to Common Services 14.1. RO54507 is applied due to GROUPEXTEND.
RO54507 has a HOLD ACTION. The HOLD states:
"With this enhancement PTF in place, CA products that use ENF for listening for events can switch to use the TIMEL field if greater time granularity is required."
If we choose not to take advantage of greater time granularity (i.e. we assume that ENF would continue to use the TIME field rather than the TIMEL field), do we have to implement the PTF by DROPPing all DATACOM/AD ENF Event related tables.
Can I apply RO54507 without completing the HOLD ACTION tasks?

This is not something that you choose to take advantage of or not, this PTF changes the structure of EVENTS both live and in the database.
ENF itself and CA products that utilize EVENTS require that the HOLDDATA actions are performed.
So you have to run the HOLDDATA actions listed for RO54507.
