How do you have CA ESP WA confirm that a Started Task is ACTIVE?
CA ESP WA can determine if a Started Task is ACTIVE or INACTIVE, and then make a decision to schedule other processes as required. Code the following as an example to check if DB2 is down after the operator has issued a command to stop it:
1) Define Procedure
IF ACTIVE('DB2') THEN +
ESP TRIGGER PROD.DB2UP
The Event PROD.DB2UP could be used to send a message or Email to the operator that DB2 is still up.
The ACTIVE function of CA ESP WA can be used to check on any JOB/STC/TSOUSER etc.
2) Define Event
EVENT ID(PROD.EVENT1) SYSTEM(ESP) REPLACE
INVOKE 'PROD.PROCLIB(TESTDB2)' NOCACHE
The event should be triggered after a certain time period has elapsed so DB2 has time to completely stop.
There are many examples in the CA Workload Automation ESP Edition Advanced User's Guide Chapter 5 as to how to monitor online systems. This is but one example. Below is a link to the CA Workload Automation ESP Edition Advanced User's Guide.
