Can CA APAS Insight for Adabas be turned off without shutting down the MPM and or changing the ADARUN cards?
Yes by issuing the Adabas OPER NOLOGGING command for the MPM you want to disable or suspend CA APAS.
This does not terminate CA APAS; it only suspends CA APAS processing.
By turning off Adabas Command logging, Adabas will not call UEX4 which means CA APAS will not invoked resulting in all CA APAS processing being bypassed.
All CA APAS requests that were started before Command logging was turned off remain active. While Command logging it turned off and CA APAS processing is being bypassed, no commands are being passed to the CA APAS Data Collector resulting in a gap in the reports from the time that Adabas Command logging was turned off until it is turned back on.
All of the storage CA APAS has acquired is still allocated to CA APAS so before shutting down Adabas restart the Adabas logging with the Adabas OPER LOGGING command. Failure to do this will result in SA03 abends because CA APAS will not be able to release its acquired storage during the shut down process.
