  Introduction:

A careful reading of the Agent Recording section makes it unclear whether or not XML recording is supported:

   https://docops.ca.com/ca-apm/10-3/en/extending/transaction-definition/introscope-agent-recording/starting-an-agent-recording-session

Perform the business transaction that you want to record on the client computer. For example, log in to an account.
The recorder page lists the transactions recorded.

  • Name
An interim business transaction name, which you can modify later
  • Content type
From the HTML header; text/html, image, css, script, and so on.
  • HTTP Status Code
    200=OK; 300=redirect; 400=client; 500=server
  • Method
    GET, POST
  • URL
Shows all the URLs that you go through as your business transaction progresses

This Knowledge Document clarifies that this capability is not supported.

  Question:

I need to record an XML Transaction. Am I able to do this with Agent Recording?

Environment:  Any 9.x or 10.x release supporting Agent Recording.

  Answer

Due to the processing impact parsing XML strings, this capability was not added to Agent Recording. Instead, you must use another recording mechanism supported by TIM such as the Recording Session Tab.
