Yes, the Unicenter CA-View database extents can be moved using products like FDR, DFDSS, etc. However, the following must be done to ensure the integrity of the database:

  1. All activity to the Unicenter CA-View database must be halted. This includes SARSTC, SARXMS, SARXTD, SAREAS, SARFSS and any Direct-to-View archival from Unicenter CA-Deliver. The Unicenter CA-Deliver RMOSTC task will need to be halted or the Direct-to-View feature disabled.

  2. The database extents can only be copied or moved to like devices i.e. 3390 mod9 to a 3390 mod9.

  3. It is recommended that a standard backup cycle be run or a FDR, DFDSS, etc backup be run on the entire database for recovery purposes.

  4. You can run a SARDBASE STATUS FULL before and after the move to check the stats of the extent that was moved. This is an optional step.
