First attempt to run a DYNCAT BACKUP followed by the DYNCAT RESTORE REORG. If, during the BACKUP process there is a catalog error, a DYNCAT BACKUP RECOVER may need to be done, followed by the RESTORE REORG. A BACKUP RECOVER should only be used if the index area of the catalog is suspect. A BACKUP RECOVER also takes both a physical and a logical backup however the logical backup is done without accessing the index area. In most cases a DYNCAT BACKUP followed by a DYNCAT RESTORE REORG will correct the problem. If the problem persists after taking the above steps contact CA support for assistance.
