CacheException Java error in Unified Self Service Cluster

Symptoms: 

After configuring a Unified Self Service cluster using the documented steps, and then attempting to restart one of the nodes in the cluster it doesn't start. Review of the USS server logs reveals errors like:

ERROR [MainServlet:217] net.sf.ehcache.CacheException: java.io.EOFException 

net.sf.ehcache.CacheException: java.io.EOFException 

 

at com.liferay.portal.cache.ehcache.EhcacheStreamBootstrapCacheLoader.start(EhcacheStreamBootstrapCacheLoader.java:58)

 

Environment: 

Unified Self Service 14.1

Workaround:

1.Log into the USS Control Panel of the server node that working 

2. In the left side panel click on "Server" then  "Server Administration", and finally open the "Resources" tab

3. Within the tab press the Execute Button for ‘Clear content cached across the cluster.’

4. Restart services on the previously non-working node
