Description:

On the Service Desk Manager r12.9 server, both ODBC services, "CA Service Desk Manager ODBC Agent" and "CA Service Desk Manager ODBC Data Access" on the secondary server do not start automatically, though there are files "pdm_odbc_start.bat" and "pdm_odbc_stop.bat" on the secondary server.

Their Startup Type is set to "Manual", which is same as the primary server setting. We can start them manually, but they do not start automatically when the Service Desk service starts.

On the previous version of Service Desk, they are up and running on both primary and secondary servers.

Solution:

This is working by design.

In Traditional methodology of r12.9, on a secondary server, both the ODBC services startup option is set to "Manual" and the services do not start automatically. This is because, the ODBC services on the Primary server are used by processes related to CA Business Intelligence (CABI) Reports. However the ones on the secondary server are not used. So it is not necessary to start it up on the Secondary server.

In Advanced Availability mode of 12.9, the ODBC Services of an Application Server are used.
