Question:

Why is CA Datacom CICS transaction DDOL is getting error "DDOL000006A - DDIP - DATABASE ID MUST BE NUMERIC" during sign on attempt while DQRY and IDEA and IDLX transactions have no problem?

Answer:

The DDOL000006A error is caused by using the wrong version of the DDOL panels. The DDOL sign on and sign off panels are found in the VLS file called ADRPNL and are provided or replaced with the CA Datacom/DB installation.

To correct the problem, first check the Dsn(datasetname).

In the CICS region, enter the CICS command:

  CEMT INQ F(ADRPNL)

And note the result:

  INQ F(ADRPNL)
  STATUS:  RESULTS - OVERTYPE TO MODIFY
   Fil(ADRPNL  ) Bda Ope Ena Rea Upd Add Bro     Exc Sha
        Dsn( datasetname                        )

Is the datasetname the intended ADRPNL file for this region and release?

Then, run a batch CA IPC VLSUTIL utility library list against that datasetname and check the dates of the DDOL panels.

For CA Datacom/DB Version 15.0, a VLSUTIL library list of the ADRPNL file should show the DDOL panel dates of:

                 LIBRARY LISTING
     NAME          DESCRIPTION                     ADDED      UPDATED
 #SCDDOF  001$  DDOL sign-off panel     ???????"  08/01/12   03/04/14
 #SCDDOH  001$  DDOL sign-on help panel ????????  11/13/86   07/17/87
 #SCDDON  001$  DDOL SIGN-ON panel      ????&??|  08/01/12   08/01/12

For CA Datacom/DB Version 14.0, a VLSUTIL library list of the ADRPNL file should show the DDOL panel dates of:

                  LIBRARY LISTING
     NAME          DESCRIPTION                     ADDED      UPDATED
 #SCDDOF  001$  DDOL sign-off panel     ???????"  02/18/09   02/18/09
 #SCDDOH  001$  DDOL sign-on help panel ????????  11/13/86   07/17/87
 #SCDDON  001$  DDOL SIGN-ON panel      ????&??|  02/18/09   02/18/09

Here is sample JCL to run VLSUTIL library list:

//VSLUTIL  EXEC PGM=VLSUTIL
//STEPLIB  DD DISP=SHR,DSN=your.CA.IPC.library
//VLSFILE  DD DISP=SHR,DSN=your.ADRPNL
//SYSUDUMP DD SYSOUT=*
//AUXPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSPRINT DD SYSOUT=*
//SYSIN    DD *
 LIBRARY
