Question:

Do the CA Database Management for DB2 for z/OS tools in general utilize zIIP engines rather than general mainframe central processors to relieve the load of specific DB2 processing workloads?

Answer:

In the Release Notes for each Release there is advice about the use of zIIP engines by the individual products.

R17 Release Notes, zIIP Support:  

IBM System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) support is now provided for the following products:
? CA Fast Load
? CA Fast Unload
? CA Rapid Reorg
Additionally, CA Insight DPM provides zIIP CPU time package information, in tabular format, on the Current Package/DBRM List, Package/DBRM History List, and Package/DBRM History Summary List panels.

 

R18 Release Notes: zIIP Support:

IBM System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) support saves costs by moving workloads from a general processor to specialty engines.
New and additional zIIP support has been added for the following products:

CA SYSVIEW® Performance Management Option for DB2 for z/OS (up to 90%)
Note the following additional product information:
CA RC/Migrator™ for DB2 for z/OS
The RC/Merger component leverage's flash copy (feature of the DASD software) to provide up to
98% CPU and elapsed time savings (though not through zIIP processors).

If the collected SQL runs under zIIP, the captured statistics also run under zIIP.
