Business Objects server : How to Recreate the SIA (Server Intelligence Agent)

Introduction:

This article contains the steps to recreate the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) on Windows Server BOXI 3.X.

These steps would also apply when the following error is thrown in Central Management Console (CMC) when displaying server properties:

The Server Intelligence Agent for this server is unavailable

 

Instructions:
 
  1. Connect to the Business Objects server
     
  2. Open CCM (Central Configuration Manager) tool from Start menu
     
  3. Remove the existing SIA entry if needed by clicking on Stop and Delete
     
  4. Click on Add SIA icon on top
     
  5. Fill in the details as required (you would usually give the already existing SIA name and corresponding port)
     
  6. Select the option that suits you better concerning the nodes. The default would be to select:
    Create Default Servers on the new node
     
  7. Make sure the option Recreate Server Intelligence Agent on the local host if already exist in the CMS system database is checked
     
  8. Click Next
     
  9. Configure the other connection details for the database, click Next
     
  10. Review your details, click on Finish if everything seems correct
     
  11. Deploy your new SIA
Additional Information:
The steps to add the corresponding port numbers:
  1. In CCM select “Add Server Intelligent Agent”, Use the Name and Port number of existing SIA (default port-6410) and select  “Create default servers on the new node” and “Recreate Server Intelligence Agent on the local host, if it already exists in the CMS system database”
  2. Assign a port to the CMS (by default 6400) and select the restored CMS database.
  3. Once SIA is created, go to SIA > Properties > Configuration and modify the ClusterName of the restored environment to be different from the production environment and start the SIA
