Business Objects Error - RPT-0009 - custom Crystal Report Deployed and Times Out

Custom Crystal Report is timing out with error message 'RPT-0009: Report did not complete in the stipulated time'.

This could happen also with OOTB Clarity reports in case the report is returning a very big amount of unfiltered data, and in this case will be normal to get the time out after 15-20 min depending on the setting in Business Objects CMC. In this case you might want to check the Idle Connection Timeout setting in Business Objects CMC - Servers - Crystal Reports Processing Server, the recommended value for which is 20 minutes. If the report takes more than 20 minutes, it may make more sense to actually apply more filtering on the report data.

For a custom report, please follow the solution below:


  1. Right-click on any open area of the report, point to Designer, and then click Printer Setup.

  2. In the Print Setup dialog box, select No Printer, and then click OK.

  3. From the File menu, click Save All.
