Introduction:

CA TPX uses five VSAM files: ADMIN1, ADMIN2, MAIL, NOTES, VIEW.

Question:

Are there pointers between the CA TPX VSAM files?

Answer:

While there may be some relationships, there are no direct pointers between the different TPX VSAM files.

For example, the MAIL file includes the userid in the VSAM key.   When a user accesses TPXMAIL, TPX will use their userid to access their records in MAIL.  If the MAIL facility is no longer used, eliminating the MAIL VSAM file (set MAIL DD DUMMY) would not “break” anything in the ADMIN1 or ADMIN2 files.
