Question:

Are there any effects to CA Service Desk Manager if the SQL 'sa' login is renamed?

Environment:
CA Service Desk Manager 14.1.x and Up
Answer:

Renaming the SQL "sa" account should not cause a problem because CA Service Desk Manager does not use the SQL "sa" account for any other purpose than when we are adding something to the database such as the "mdbadmin" user, or adding db configurations during pdm_configure. When you run pdm_configure, you will see on the db config screen, a DBAdmin user account field, which is writable so you can change it to the new name for the "sa" account. As long as this is changed when running pdm_configure, it shouldn't have any affects at all on product operation.

Of course, as with all configuration changes, we always recommend that you test something like this in a test environment first to ensure that it doesn't cause any unforeseen issues in your specific environment.
