Introduction:

The following FAQ provides answers to common questions around this topic.
Question:
Q1. Is CA Technologies licensed to distribute Oracle Java in their products?

Q2. Are customers required to contract with Oracle for the cost of the Oracle Java when that Java is supplied as part of a CA product?

Q3. I am using the Oracle Java outside of CA Technologies products. May I contact CA Technologies directly to get Oracle Java patches?

Q4. Does CA Technologies directly provide Oracle Java updates as part of their product releases? 

Q5. Do customers have other options than Oracle Java?

 
Answer:
A1. Yes, CA Technologies is licensed to distribute JDK as part of our license agreement with Oracle. CA Technologies will continue to ship Oracle Java as part of product installers, service packs and hot fixes.

A2. No. Access to non-public patches and updates are part of CA’s distribution agreement, and CA can provide those patches to customers within the product installers, service packs, and hot fixes which we ship.

A3. No. If using non-CA supplied Oracle Java releases, then contact Oracle directly to obtain new Oracle Java releases and patches.

A4. Yes. CA Technologies product updates will include recent Java updates.

A5. Yes. Please access the Product Compatibility Matrix (PCM) to find out what is supported for your particular APM release, component, and compatibility combination.  To access PCM, go to https://pcm.ca.com/
