The PDSMAN Member Archiving and Recovery Facilities User Guide describes how to define $ACCESS rules to prevent 'Troublesome programs' from updating library member reference information.
The guide explicitly mentions that some users find it helpful to disable Last Reference Date Recording for the ISPF Browse processor, ISRBRO.
However invocations of ISPF Browse from applications such as EZYEDIT and ISPF Option 3.4 member list have been found to result in member reference dates being updated, even if $ACCESS rules are defined to disable reference recording for the ISRBRO program.
PTF RO77773 modified PDSMAN to recognize invocations of the ISPF Browse processor in most cases. But it has been determined that certain invocations of Browse by ISPF 3.4 still result in member reference dates being updated. This is because in some cases ISPF issues an additional BLDL that cannot be attributed to the Browse program (ISRBRO).
This note applies to any use of the $ACCESS PGM=ISRBRO control statement.
